Of course, we can't make by ourselves everything, which is necessary for the home photostudio. A good example for this is the flash. The making a photoflash is not completely impossible, but it requires very special knowledges and skills, which the most of amateurs don't have. Other photographic gadgets can be made in the home conditions, but the price of the same things, which are made by the industry, is low enough, and this circumstance make less sense spending time and labour. However, there are such gadgets, which are expensive enough at the markets, to make us to make efforts to create their equivalents at home in order to economize money. Good examples for these gadgets are appliances for making stable the photocamera and the lighting.
The holder, which I made, has a very simple construction. It is a little bit heavy, but it is really strong and reliable. Its construction is well visible on the illustration below. It is a piece of iron band 1 with length of about 120 mm, width 20 mm and 5 mm thick. It is curved in the certain end as it is shown on the illustration with length of the different segments 20, 20 and 80 mm respectively. Two holes 5 and 7, which are placed just opposite each other, are drilled in the curved segment, as is shown in the picture. Both holes are 8 mm in diameter. The third hole 6 which is drilled has a diameter of 6.5 mm and a thread M8 is made here. In the other end of the iron band, in distance of 15 mm from the end, is drilled a hole 8 with diameter of 10 mm. A piece of iron band 2 with 160 mm length is welded to the first one, as it is shown in the illustration below. There are two holes in this piece. The first hole 9 has 8 mm and the second hole 10 has 5 mm in diameter. The first is placed on a distance 50 mm and the second is placed of 152 mm from the weld. The so made holder is painted in black colour.
In the hole 8 is screwed up a bulb-holder 4, type E27. I used a small Chinese budget photoflash type QH-45, which I placed in the bulb-holder. The umbrella is placed in the holes 5 and 7 and is clamped by the screw bolt 3, which is screwed up in the hole 6. The whole construction is mounted to a suitable photographic tripod, with the help of a part from so-called stunt-stand. The construction of this stand is described in other article.
